I got a gift from my mom, 1000 pound that she western union it to me. I went to the money shop as I thought it would be the most up to standard as I dealt with small mom and pop shops and it was a hassle.
I got there she took all my details and I fill in the form, she gave me 20£ notes * 50. I took them immediately and went to my bank.
I asked the bank to deposit it, she took them and checked them, then she said this one is a fake twenty and took off me and gave me a receipt with it, not to mentioned the embarrassment I felt as it felt like they accused my integrity, I said this money was from the money shop and give it back so I can take it back so I get an original one, she told me this can't be done and she gave me receipt with the note details (serial number).
I went back to the money shop to tell them that they gave me fake money, they said why you didn't you check the money before getting it and how we know that you didn't go anywhere else before the bank.
first, I assured them that they can see from the time of the withdraw to the time of the deposit it took less than 5 minutes so I didn't go anywhere other than the bank.
second, I told him I don't have the right tool to check anything I am coming to the money shop as they are the professionals who deals with MONEY hence the name. he said I've have been working here 6 months and didn't have such a problem in the past another hit on my integrity that made me feel horrible and helpless.
I told him check your serial number of the serial number here and you will be able match them. he said we don't track our money. a money shop doesn't track money that was a shock to me, what extra standard do you add as a money shop.
never deal with them again for the embarrassment and un-professional behavior.
